Charlotte Vaughn is an assistant research professor in the Maryland Language Science Center, and director of the Language Science Station at Planet Word museum, a research and engagement laboratory. Her work investigates social aspects of language processing, especially involving biases in the perception of speech. Vaughn also specializes in science communication, where her lab invites visitors to Planet Word museum to participate in research studies. Her other research areas include sociophonetics, prediction and expectation in language comprehension, voice identification and memory, phonetic category learning, and machine learning.
